Cycle - recycled: The 'Creative Spark' exhibtion at Sheffield Hallam University is a showcase for the work of its most talented arts, media and design students. Final year Product Design student, Phil Bridge, 21, turned his attention to designing a bicycle made from cardboard. The design is made mostly of recyclable and recycled materials. The frame makes use of 'Hexacomb' board which is a honeycomb-like structure but much stronger than corrugated cardboard. Interchangeable mechanical parts are used in this prototype design.
One advantage to this design of bicycle is cost. According to Phil, the bike is priced at around £15 plus other components such as tyres and chains. Pictured: Phil Bridge with his cardboard cycle at his degree show at Sheffield Hallam University. 190608
