The event has been held on Easter Monday for its 45 year at Gawthorpe, near Ossett, West Yorkshire. Ruth also holds the World Record of 5 mins 3 seconds for carrying a (10kg) sack of coal close to a mile. 1108.25 yards to be precise. Ruth ran the event in 5 mins 4 seconds - just one second outside her record. 240308 |

Matthew finished with a time of 4 mins 32 seconds after carrying a 1 cwt (50kg) sack of coal close to a mile. 1108.25 yards to be precise.
