| World-famous pavement artist Julian Beever wins his race against time and the rain to create a Ôchasm outside Sheffield City Hall today. The dismal weather threatened to wash away his artwork over the past three days. Julian has been commissioned by Yorkshire Water, which is spending £11m over three years restoring or replacing more than 80km of water mains in the south and west of Sheffield. Steve Parsley, Media Relations, Yorkshire Water, said the company wanted to "give something back" in return for disruption caused by the maintenance work. Julian began his outline drawings on Wednesday and expects to complete the artwork on Friday. Referring to the rain water flowing across his work earlier, a smiling Julian Beever said: "When they asked me to do a drawing for Yorkshire Water. I didn't think I would have to do it IN Yorkshire Water". The work is on view to the public all day Saturday.
