Haile Gebrselassie wins the 10k Bupa Great Manchester Run but hopes of regaining the record were hampered by strong winds. His aim of beating the 27m 1s time set by Kenyan, Micah Kogo was swept aside due to strong headwinds in latter part of the race. Gebrselassie’s winning time was 27m 39s and finishing ahead of Ali Mabrouk El  Zaidi of Libya (28m 13s) and Ukraine’s Sergey Lebid (28m 36s). Pictured: Haile Gebrselassie (101) in the leading pack.
